Sri Lankan aerial bombing on 16 October 2006, in Puthukkudiyiruppu in the
Mullaithivu district, killed four people includinga baby and a four year girl.Large number of shrapnel also fell inside a
children’s home, Arivuchcholai Children’sHome, nearby that was housing more than 200boys. One boy in the children’s home was alsoslightly injured. Nine homes were damaged.One of the families was in their bunker with
their one month old baby. The bomb exploded only 8 metres from thebunker. The baby went into a coma and was rushed to the hospital and thebaby recovered. One house that was damaged had 300 chickens kept in an enclosure. This has vanished without a trace. Another house in which a 12
year girl died and 6 members of the family were injured had two buses parked in its yard. These also completely disappeared.
