On 22 February 2008, Sri Lankan Air Force bombed the village of Kiranchi in Poonahar in the Kilinochchi district. Eight civilians staying in threehomes died on the spot. Among them were a mother, her baby and her four
years old child. Twelve civilians were taken to hospital with serious injuries
and one injured woman died of her injuries in the hospital.
